Day 17 - Carrión De Los Condes - Moratinos

Today was supposed to be 26.8 km but the Albergue was closed so we needed to walk another 3.something km to the next town…
This place is a real one horse town but the Albergue is great.  It is run by Italians and we have already pre-paid our Italian dinner for tonight!

The new camera is now functioning again but we have precious few photos to show for it!

Look Dad the camera is working:

And now a posed photo!  That handsome looking guy in the background is our new friend Thibaud.  Chances are we won't see him again as he walks longer than we do.  He has already walked 1400km having started near Paris about six weeks ago.

His longest day so far was a 57km day and he described it as a very sad day!

And here is the start of a typical Stewart bag explosion. Everyday, everywhere we go, our bags just explode all their contents over a wide area.

After the really rainy day where the computer got slightly damp on its external surface we decided to buy some better protection for the backpack.

Unfortunately the store we went to did not have backpack covers but they did have this, which I got to use today.

The amazing thing was that when I took it off after it had stopped raining (and it was really just a light shower) the inside was wetter than the outside due to the condensation from my body!  So, I'm guessing that's an improvement.  Thibaud has something similar but his one basically splits all the way up the arm pits, which would ameliorate the whole wearing a plastic bag thing…

Finally, when we arrived at Moratinos, we discovered that Hobbiton was based on it!
