Day 07 - Los Arcos - Viana

According to one guide today could end in Viana but another guide suggested 10 km later in Logroño.  I'm not certain why we chose the shorter option?
Sorry about the decreased quality of photos & quantity for that matter.  Since we destroyed the good camera we have to rely on iPhones.  Tomorrow in Logroño I might look for a camera store as we walk through town and get a new one.

Some of the countryside we have been walking through in the last two days.  This is reminiscent of the scene in The Way where they meet "Jack from Ireland"

I don't understand the significance of it but they (previous pilgrims) love stacking stones on top of each other.

Sansol from a distance & close up of the church.

More countryside

The church of Santa Maria in Viana:

Cesare Borgia, was killed here in 1507.  An interesting piece of trivia about him is that he apparently was patron of a lot of artists including Leonardo.  So many images of Christ are modelled on his face!

His remains were transferred under this plaque in the 1950s.

Opposite our Albergue (which is actually an old monastery) there is the ruin of an old church (San Pedro).  Here are some photos of that, there is one small section where they have restored some of the old artwork.
